Pat McKinnon is an orthopaedic physiotherapist and Certified Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) practitioner who has been practicing in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor since 2008. Originally hailing from the majestic foothills of Alberta, Pat graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Calgary. Proud of his educational accomplishments, he immediately filed his degree in a drawer somewhere, moved to the Rocky Mountains, and spent the next five years working and playing at backcountry lodges, travelling the globe, and producing a feature length documentary about professional rock, paper, scissors players (true story).
After several seasons of living this adventurous nomadic lifestyle, Pat decided that he should probably put his education to good use, and he went on to complete his Masters of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia in 2007. He then promptly fled Vancouver and relocated to the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, where he’s been practicing and living the dream ever since.
Pat has undertaken post-graduate certifications in IMS and Active Release Techniques (ART), and completed his Level 3 Manual Therapy Certification through the Canadian Orthopaedic Division. He has a special interest in shoulder rehabilitation, and he has also recently completed several extensive courses focusing on the thorax, hip, and pelvis. When he’s not healing patients, Pat can be found shredding pow, riding bikes, eating tacos, or playing air guitar.
