Manual & Manipulative Physiotherapy

Manual Therapy is a hands on approach to addressing pain and immobility by releasing tight muscles, restricted joints, and scar tissue in order to reduce pain and inflammation and improving mobility and function. It is used to treat headaches, neck and shoulder pain, low back pain, pelvic dysfunction, hip knee foot and ankle pain and arthritis.

THERAPIST:

IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation) & Acupuncture

Acupuncture and Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) are therapeutic needling techniques that use very fine sterilized needles to penetrate the body to help reduce pain, swelling, tight muscles, compressed nerve roots and muscle imbalances. Acupuncture inserts needles into specific points along meridian pathways which have been defined by traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). IMS is a system for diagnosis and treating chronic pain syndromes that result from musculoskeletal dysfunction.

THERAPIST:

Maggie Phillips-Scarlett PhysiotherapistMAGGIE PHILLIPS-SCARLETT (Acupuncture only)

Exercise Physiologist

A CSEP-CEP performs assessments, prescribes conditioning exercise, as well as exercise supervision, counseling and healthy lifestyle education in apparently healthy individuals and/or populations with medical conditions, functional limitations or disabilities associated with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, neuromuscular, and ageing conditions.

THERAPIST:

Concussion Management and Vestibular Rehabilitation

Get help with new or on-going concussion symptoms, minimize your risk of more severe injury or persistent symptoms, and prepare for high-risk activities with baseline testing. Vestibular therapy is a proven treatment for dizziness and balance problems. There are many conditions that can contribute to dizziness and balance disorders, our assessment helps to determine the roots of its cause.

THERAPIST:

RedCord Neurac Training

RedCord Neurac is a unique system of ropes and bungees which allows for identification of compensation patterns and “weak links”. It restores impaired or altered neuromuscular co-ordination patterns and often provides immediate pain relief and improved physical function. It coordinates activation of stabilizer muscles and larger power muscles and is used for performance enhancement, injury prevention and pain reduction.

THERAPIST:

CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning) and FMS / SFMA Testing

Functional Movement Screen (FMS) & Selected Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) screens allow the therapist to identify strengths & weakness, as well as mobile or unstable areas within the body. After this analysis, one can learn to move with better biomechanics and efficiencies, while avoiding injury and performing at one’s potential. The Strength and Conditioning program is individualized according to your needs; helping you meet your goals, for sport, recreation, or general health.

THERAPIST:

In 2005, Maggie began working with Canada’s Paralympic Ski Team as the Physiotherapist and the Strength and Conditioning Coach.
